From the multiplex to the art house, here are the year’s standout films.
1. Black Panther
Maybe the best superhero movie of the last 10 years. Really fun to watch with top notch actors young and old. Black Panther is a crowd pleasure. I had to watch this one 3 times.
2. Avengers: Infinity War
The first viewing of this amazing film will blow your mind. The theater was packed for weeks after this opened. Truly what a great summer blockbuster should do. Fun from start to finish.
3. Mission: Impossible Fallout
I had high hopes for this one. I watched a lot of interviews and behind the scenes before watching it in the theater. I guess I wanted to see the process and then the movie. Great work from all the actors.
4. Incredibles 2
Jack Jack is the funniest baby I’ve ever seen on screen. When can we get the stand alone movie of Jack Jack?
5. Crazy Rich Asians
I love a good rom com. This one was different then the hallmark and run of the mill rom coms from the 00’s. I give a lot of the credits to the actors. a lot of stars in the making.
6. A Quiet Place
Shhhhhhh. I was wanting to see a movie like this for a long time. They just never made it. Until now that is. Best when watching with a full theater.
7. Tomb Raider
Maybe not on a lot of people’s best list this year. I found this movie to be charming, action packed, and a thrill ride.
8. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs
A collection of short stories about the wild wild west. I’m on board. Not expecting a lot of what I saw. I was glued to the screen. I love movies like these.
1. Ready Player One
What happened to Spielberg? He use to entertain our minds with worlds of wonder. This world is all over the place and full of brands. yeah not really fun.
2. Solo: A Star Wars Story
Tried to watch this one in the theater. Disney should know better. Never did make it. Tried on streaming. This is junky. Never did get to see it. no interest.
3. Small foot
Solid cast that I bet none of them will ever talk about being in this whatever it is. So bad and sad.
4. Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom
All you gotta do is buy a bag of doritos and escape the island. After that it’s what is this piece of steamy dino poop?
5. The Cloverfield Paradox
even a really good previous entry into the series couldn’t save this clunky piece of space well you know.
6. A Wrinkle In Time
Ever look at this movie poster and think why? Why is this so boring to look at? Why are all the stars in weird makeup? Why did I keep falling asleep?
So you’re gonna remake a classic movie from 30 years ago? That should be plenty of time to write a great script better than the original right? Oh so now it’s the girl who takes in the guy and lies to him? That took you 30 years to come up with? Better casting would of helped this uhhh it’s kinda ok for families.
8. Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle
It’s the bare necessities that keep the worry away. 5 minutes and what is this dark movie doing to my beloved favorite characters? Wait didn’t you just a better one a few months back?
