WHAT’S IT ABOUT?
Every suburb has them: those characters who seem lost in their own world, and perpetually excluded from the ranks of the bold and athletic. Bagman paints a quirky, satirical portrait of “Boxerman Guy” as he tries to make the most of his life in the suburbs.
One typical—hilarious—scene has Bagman lamenting his inability to fight crime because he lacks “superpowers”: “My girlfriend just broke up with me. You know, like now i’m single.” Julio reminds him that he likes to fly, and suggests that Bagman create a picnic for the girl he likes—putting his superpowers to work.
IS IT ANY GOOD?
Bagman offers many opportunities to laugh heartily at (with?) its underwhelming characters. It also invites us to identify with Ethan Michaels determination to take risks in pursuit of what he wants in life. Their progress is modest, but real—just as is often the case in our lives.
